I have been having an algae problem in my tank and want to clean the plants good. Hot water does not seem to be easily getting the algae off. Can I use vinegar? Would that be safe if it is rinsed thoroughly? Should I try anything else? Thanks

I had two betta fish dat died already =(. One just 8 days ago because of ick.
So my question is how do i clean the tank??
Well wat i did first was clean the tank(including the filter, ornaments, plants and gems) with really hot water then i air dried it for a day. my fish tank got full of green algae stuck to all the walls and stuff this has never happened to me before, all the ornaments that i have inside the tank are also full of algae and look hard to remove because they resemble like fake sponge that have little holes in it. if i clean my tank and put these things back in with a little algae will it start growing all over again??
