I want to get one oranda goldfish:

But I already have 6 white cloud mountain minnows in my 17 litre tank. What do you think? Should I get the oranda, or keep my tank as it is?
So this pet shop must be giving a lot of bogus information.

The white cloud minnows are about all you can keep in that size tank. While people say thats too small even for them, I used to have some in a tank that size, and they were allways breeding. That indicates to me they were healthy and happy enough.
Goldfish are definately out. While you could actually put a baby goldfish in there, remember it’s a baby. If it’s healthy it will grow, quite quickly and get rather large. In a tiny tank, it wont be healthy, it wont grow, and it will eventually die.
So stick with the Minnows.

No, of course you can’t keep an Oranda Goldfish in a tank that small.
Goldfish grow up to 30 cm long and need at least a 76 liter tank with a filter to live comfortably.
Your tank is already fully stocked.
around 2-4 goldfish
17 litres is too small for the minnows. Goldfish need more like over 100 litres, a 17 litre is FAR too small for one of these large and very messy fish.
The minnows would prefer much more swimming room, at least 45-50 litres.
Anything sold to you that’s smaller than 45-50 litres really is a waste of your money and a con by the pet store.
