I heard you feed peas for constipation.
So I put a tiny bit inside and my fish started gobbling it up as soon as I put it in. I didn’t fast him. I feed him 2 times everyday with a tiny bit of food. His/her stomach is normal.
When I put in goldfish flakes he swims up to the surface 2 minutes later and starts nibbling.

I asked on Y!A yesterday and someone recommended harlequins, danios and guppies and I heard bettas are okay in there too. But which is better? Which has more of a chance of being happy there and living long? And how many could I get?

You know how when you go to the pet store and then there’s those shelves with the betta fish in those little plastic containers? Now I’m just wondering, why is their water bluish and what is the purpose of the blue stuff?
I’m planning on getting a betta fish tank eventually. Should I own this substance and if so, what do I do with it? And another thing: I wanted to have bamboo plants in the tank, so will the blue stuff harm the bamboo?

I have a 5 gallon aquarium and would like to add a 50 watt heater for the winter, as temperatures are already starting to drop. However, I already have my three fish in it. Is it safe to add a heater while fish are in the aquarium, and does anybody have any tips on how I might go about it??
