how to put a personalized air pump into a biorb?

By this I mean, like the bubble treasure chest. I'm really close on doing it, all I need to do is separate the hard middle tube part from the to of the filter. However they are joined together. I want to know is there another way or can I just cut off the tube part.
I have a BiOrb a medium sized circular one.
No that sounds risky.
I wouldn’t risk your safety all this cutting, be careful.
