my mom wanted one for her office and I was wondering what types of fish lived well in them. Also, are they easily maintained & where can I buy them cheapest? Thanks so much!

Well you see BiOrb are fish bowls with filters so any fresh water fish could technically live in them and survive but most would be very uncomfortable. For your mother I would recommend getting 5 White Clouds or Zebra Danios, 1 or 2 ghost shrimp and a pleco or mystery snail. The reason I suggested White Clouds or Zebra Danios is because they are extremely hardy. If you want some color and don’t mind possibly wasting your money if they die you could get some Cardinal or Neon tetras and maybe one Gourami. Also if your mom is looking for a showy, art form of a tank you should just get a betta with a mystery snail. Two small gold fish would be okay as well just remember that they have a cooler water temp. than tetras.Do not overstock your tank! FISH WILL BE MISERABLE AND IT WILL BE DIRTY AND UNATTRACTIVE.
When it comes to cleaning and maintaining you need to treat them just like a fish tank not a bowl. i.e.: shift gravel, change filter, and change water every month or 2 weeks. I know petsmart is having a GIANT sale so you should check there or on their website. If not Petsmart, Petco I know has really good prices.
So lets recap, 5 small schooling Tetras (best picks would be White Clouds or Zebra Danios.), 1 or 2 ghost shrimp, a Pleco or Mystery Snail, and possibly a Gourami (I wouldn’t recommend it though.)
Treat the BiOrb like a tank.
Try Petsmart while they are still on there big sale or Petco. http://www.petsmart.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=2767036&kw=biorb&origkw=BiOrb&sr=1

Hope this helps!
Unfortunate fish live in them, but in most cases they don’t live very long after they are sentenced to the BiOrbs.
BiOrbs are too small for most fish, and the round shape makes them hard to clean.
For less money, you can get a much larger conventional aquarium setup that will be much better for your fish.
