How do I set up a Biorb heater?

7 June 2010 3 Comments

Hi guys I have a Baby Biorb. And I am going to make it into a Tropical tank. Can someone give me a step - to - step, guide to installing it. I want to keep Neon Tetras inside it and how many can i put inside? Also additional info about what to add to the water ( stress coat etc etc... ) And how long to leave it. Thank you.

i have a tropical baby biorb with 1 happy healthy betta, some sort of tetra – fished out of a old tank i no longer have and 4-5 very lively happy platys thats been living in there about 2 years now without any sign of illness at all, all my water chemistry tests are perfectly within safe limits so id say go for it you wont regret it

however i wouldn’t recommend neon tetras as these need a well matured tank, go for something like guppies or platys maybe?? when it comes to installing your heater place it on the heater stand provided set it to around 25 degrees C install you filter cartridge connect you airpump etc and wash and add your biorb gravel fill with dechlorinated water add stress coat/stress zyme and leave your tank to mature for around 3-4 weeks or test with a freshwater test kit before adding any fish hope that helps :)

Baby biorb’s only hold 4 gallons of water. neon tetras cant be in anything less then 20. No fish can live in a tank that size. not even a betta.

i’m afraid to say, but thats a pretty small tank, even a betta wouldnt survive in that, maybe one tetra, but they need to be in shoals, so thats where your stuck.
to install the heater just put it in and turn it on. take the tank back, dont be afraid to spend more cash on a larger and more suitable tank, and give your fish a happy life!

    hope this helped……
