Can my 10 gallon tank can support this?
When i first got my tank, it was kinda filled with bacteria and other types of germs. I cleaned it pretty good with soap and hot water, just about got everything out of the tank. I set it up in my room and went to the pet store to buy some fish. I put the fish in a small bowl until i filled up the 10 gallon fish tank. When it was filled, I immediately put the fish in(1 Algae eater, 1 eel, and 1 picto catfish). Just about 15 minuted later i got the filter in there and running. The next day i bought 4 more fish(1 picto catfish, and 3 platys). Somehow, 2 platys died. The explanation of ones death is because of its fin was tore and its tail was a little split. The other one is the one idk about. They seem to get along great and ive fed them regularly(About 2 times a day). But ive been hearing stuff about cycling and the nitrate levels and all that stuff. Im afraid my fish will die soon. Can i have some advice?

First off soap cleaning a tank is a bad idea. Residue can lag behind. Secondly bacteria is a good thing which is what the cycle is all about. Cycling can be done with fish or without fish. Here is a link that will explain the cycle process;

Also adding so many fish so quickly isn’t good either. Only 10% in inches of fish of the volume of your tank at least one week apart. Adding too many fish especially to a new tank is not good.
You need to get yourself a test kit. Especially for ammonia and nitrites. Right now your tank is doing flip flops and more than likely will go thru what is called a bacterial bloom. This is when the beneficial bacteria starts to grow. This bacteria is needed to neutrilize the fish waste. You will need to be prepared to change out 25% of your water when your tests for ammonia are in the unsafe range. This could happen twice per day or every day or every other day. Since you didn’t cycle you will need to test the water every day to twice per day and prepare for water changes.
Also did you remember to get dechlor/water conditioner as well?
NO MORE FISH. Your platy did not die due to torn fins. When you get your fish you need to also acclimate them properly to your tank. That means floating the bag with the fish for a minimum of 15 minutes. This will acclamate them to the water temperature (you do have a heater right?) add 1/2 cup of your tank water to the bag and allow the bag to float another 15 minutes. This will start the ph acclamation. Again add 1/2 cup of water to the bag and float againanother 15 minutes one more time then release your fish.
Save your fish by testing the water and preparing for water changes.
4 problems
1. overstocked
2. badly stocked
3. uncycled
4. you did not do your research
yeah your to late now u just better hope u have some fish left over because u didnt cycle the tank u HAVE TO its not a optional thing when keeping fish just so u know for next time i think your goin to have to start over and btw you were adding fish WAY to fast thatsanother reason u need to add 3 or 4 then wait a few weeks then add a few mre u cant just add 10 then the next day 10 more it stresses fish out and kills them from to much going on at one time they need to get used to the environment first before u throw tons of more fish in and you need to cycle the tankso im sorry but good luck i hope all your fish dont die but some people have to learn the hard way when they dont research b4 they buy
fish man is right. i would take back what is still alive in the morning because if you don’t they will probably die. then research fishless cycling on the internet. i completed a fishless cycle recently and now have had my tank stocked for a little over two months and i haven’t lost a single fish nor is there any sign of me losing a fish. all my water perameters are absolutely perfect. i strongly suggest trying it. 10 gallons are also harder to maintain compared to a slightly larger tank. a 10 gallon would beed to be syphoned weekly as say a 29 gallong could be syphoned every two weeks. all i can say is more research. i have three successful tanks and i am still on the internet every night trying to learn more
also the soap, you should never have that anywhere near the water, evenif you are putting your hand in after you touched soup
you need to cycle a tank. it tanks about 2-6 weeks. you can use fish if you want, but its better to cycle fishless.
your algae eater is far too big for that size of a tank
with a 10 gallon, you shouldnt have a fish any larger than 2 inches.
you fish died because you did not cycle your tank. if you want to use fish to cycle the tank, then you have to buy 1 or 2 hardy fish. you should take the fish back to the store and research how to cycle your tank. cycling a tank establishes good bacteria for a safe envorinment for fish to survive in.
plus you didnt mention anything about a heater..i hope you have one because the fish you listed need a steady temperature that requires a heater to obtain.
