10 gallon multiple community Betta Aquarium tank with two males same tank!

7 June 2010 11 Comments

Yes, this is a 10 gallon tank that has two male Betta fish in the same tank with the help of a nifty divider so they can't attack each other. Both Betta fish were in poor health when I got them, so I skipped the long tank setup that is usually required and put room temperature spring water in and let the fish in a few hours after. Normally you are supposed to wait a lot longer but Betta fish are very strong. It has been about 3 days now and they both are very active and healthy and I plan to learn more about aquariums and introduce some more fish on both sides. This goes out to all aquarium newbies who get lost in the complex process, or who want to have multiple Bettas in one tank. Video was NOT taken with Kyocera Loft phone from virgin mobile. I wish!!!! It is a Panasonic Lumix GH1.

I like fish that eat other fish! You should put some fish in there that eat other fish, then we’d really have a show!

My red betta fish looks exaclly like yours and he’s almost a year old I have a female also in a different tank because they don’t get along :)

i would definately add a heater, i keep mine at 80 degrees, temp. fluctuations can make them sick, also if you want to go the cheap way, use plastic canvas from a hobby shop for the cover, as far as your cute little shy betta, for my shy one’s i use the aqueon geranium plant (it covers the top of the water and they can hide in it), hope this helps a little and thanks for saving them, they are cute

@lovetheanime26hoe Well I have the tank on top of my home theater amp which stays on all the time and kind of serves as a make shift heater because the vents under the tank warm it up pretty nicely without boiling the fish. I may just get a heater if I move the tank though.

hi i wanted to know where you boot the divider

  • BlackoutDOTcom said:

@danielsolisymail any pet shop or online pet should have them just search for 10 gallon tank divider (or whatever size tank you have).

@sassygirl8324 If you have a big enough tank you can put a divider and they will be fine. It is actually goof for them to fight a little bit now and then if you have a soft divider they really can’t hurt each other and it can be quite amusing and they get exercise. Also in a 10 gal tank this gives them much more space, much clearer water, and you can introduce a few other fish on each side (just not more bettas)

@BlackoutDOTcom Where did you get the divider?? Ive looked around but couldn’t find one.. Id like to get mine into a bigger tank like yours but no luck as of yet. I wasnt aware that they would get a long with another species of fish.
