and what type of fish would you recommend?

If you are new to aquarium keeping and/or marine tanks, I would highly suggest that you take a trip to your local book store, pet store, or public library and get some books on the subject. Read, a lot. Keeping a marine tank is not an easy thing to do, and most marine fish, in my opinion, are fairly-to-very fragile.
That’s all the advice I can give. In my many years of fish-keeping, I have never had the desire to tackle keeping a marine tank myself. They can be beautiful, though, so good luck!
i will tell you step by step:
1 first of all you need a heater, set your heater to 26*Celsius then test if its warming up.
2 know fill your tank up with coldish water then place your heater in the tank to warm your water up.
3 i suggest buying a thermometer to tell you your water Temperature remember 26* Celsius is just fine.
4 know here is the important part!!! place your filter in the water and plug it in and get it running (it will tell you on the manual how to get it running)
leave your water to settle for about 2 days then it will be filtered and oxygenated rich.
5 you cant put any fish in yet because you have to put filter start chemicals in it if not your fishes would die (your local pet store will tell you about filter start).
6 know your ready to start your knew aquarium
*good luck
today i have bought a Biube 35l and am undecided between cold water and marine.
I already have a tropical tank and would love to give marine a go!
We have a maidenhead aquatics store local and can get a pair of clowns there for £32 and some hermit crabs!
I know you cant have any more than 2 clowns in a biorb…
but if the set up and maintenance is fairly simple to follow then i am going to do it.
The reef one website states that you dont need anything more than the marine conversion kit, its all in the box.
have read loads of forums and the response to marine fish in a biorb is a mix…
I have read about the biorb marine set-up apparently you can but a marine conversion kit – just follow the instruction etc and off you go – personally I don’t know much about marine setups but hope to give it a go one day. Do google searches and ask you LFS for advice they may be able to help in regards to fish but I think the Damsel fish is a great starter fish but may be wrong. There is mixed reactions to the biorb my main gripe is they are way to expensive but I like the all in one idea if you go with th Marine set up all the best and have fun. If not go with cold water or tropicals. Have fun
If you’re setting up a marine tank – remember to let it cycle before you add to many fish – the tank needs to build up the good bacteria so it can reduce the fish waste and stop the water becoming toxic. usually takes about 6 weeks – but if you can get some sand / rocks from someone elses tank it can be much quicker
Leave your response!
