Betta splendens, the siamese fighter, spawning..

30 May 2010 6 Comments

Ive kept fish for many, many years, most of my fish are difficult to find and rare and while browsing my local shop i came across Betta splendens that is likely to be the commonest and most recognised tropical fish in the hobby, i had never kept them or bred them so i decided to get a pair and do it. My daughter kelsey helped with this spawning and did all the hard work, we have just spent a fantastic hour watching our first Betta splendens spawning and we are both very excited to see this for the first time..Its truely a magical sight.

so he made her drop the male forces the female to drop the eggs, he then picks them up in his mouth? and puts them in his bubble nest? thats pretty cool. How long do they take to hatch?
