Betta Fish Tricks

Did you know it was possible to teach your fish tricks? Here are some step by step instructions on how to do it!: Betta fish are really smart. They are a good fish to teach. Another thing though, male betta fish will usually NOT perform tricks. I strongly suggest to use a female. 1. Wash your hands before doing this step! You do not want to get toxins in the water! Rub your finger in your fish's food a couple of times. You want it to smell delicious. Then, put it into the fish's water. I repeat, please wash your hands before doing this step! Repeat this step about two times a day until your fish is used to your finger. 2. Wash your hands again! Rub your finger in fish food. Place your finger tip on the surface of the water. Repeat this until your fish nips your finger. Repeat this for a couple days. 3. Wash your hands. Rub your finger in fish food. Hold it just a little bit above the water. Eventually, she should nip it! After time, you can bring your finger up higher. Just be careful and not let your fish jump out of the aquarium/bowl (hopefully an aquarium)! And wash your hands when your done! Scout learned this trick in about a day and a half, but I don't want you all to rush your fish. Eventually, you will not need to rub your finger in food. A good time to perform this trick is before your fish eats her food. This way, you can reward her with the food and she will do the trick at least once a day so she will remember it. Be careful and good luck! Disclaimer: I am not ...

Using a reward isn’t quite memory. It’s actually conditioning. But that’s really cool though.

hey, i have 3 female bettas, and all three jump, but all i ask of u is to be careful, not that looks like a breeding tank (i am not saying it is, and i am not saying it isnt) and ur tank looks like it on a table or something, but mine r in a 44 gal, on its own stand, and 1 of mine jumped out, and i couldnt find her, after 10 mins of being out of water, she is now back in the tank, and fairly healthy (she still recovering a bit) but it is kinda scary-ish but, be careful i dont wont ur to do that

Well, once the fish is trained, you don’t need to rub food on your finger. I never do anymore and she still jumps!

No, it doesn’t hurt at all. I agree with Mothrafan1000, it just feels like a small poke.
