Why did one of my fish try and jump out of its tank?

I have 3 fish: 2 fancy tailed goldfish and a black moor (which has actually now turned gold!), but last night the black moor tried jumping the tank! She's never had any problems with the other fish, the tank is clean and has good filtration, there's plenty to do and I always change the plants and accessories. Did she just do it for attention or something? Should I be worried? She's calmed down now, but I'm worried she'll try again.

It’s a shame we get so many unhelpful people on here.
Fish do that, it isn’t a reflection on you as an owner. Fish could have the most amazing tank and still will jump out of water.
I’ve had fish jump out several times when I was a kid and had to pick them off the floor!!! Plus one unfortunate 11year old goldfish that I found dead on the floor!
Best thing to do is leave a couple of inches at the top when you fill the tank and either buy a lid or make one. Doesn’t have to be fancy as long as it’s waterproof and air can filter in that’s fine.
Hope this helps.
i think he tried to swim to mexico because he realised that barack obama was in office
probably just jumped out of the water and almost out of the bowl on accident, fish jump out of water
Well its possible that chlorine, ammonia, or lack of oxygen could be causing strange behavior, but if you really do have enough filtration and space that’s not it.
Lots of fish are jumpers, and will jump out of the tank without an extremely close-fitting lid. If you don’t have one, your best bet is to get a glass or plastic lid for your tank. It will also keep water from evaporating from your tank.
He may have gotten frightened. Black moors, because of their eye size, tend to have poor eyesight, thus when people suddenly appear they become frightened. Some fish just like to jump as well.
If you dont like this, you’ll absolutely hate hatchetfish….
fish do that, fishtanks need lids. some fish jump more than others,, they have no way of knowing that they could get hurt doing this thats just what they do, eat, swim, hide, and sometimes jump, he might have got a glimpse of somthing he thought was a bug.
Some fish jump because they are being pestered by other dominant fish. However mollies are natural jumpers just for the hell of it. That is the main reason aquariums are sold with tight fitting hoods, besides holding the light. Not to keep cats out.
Get a lid?
If the ammonia in a tank is too high fish will jump to escape it.
All The times I ‘ve had a fish do that Theyve seen something that aparently looks like a good meal. Was there any bugs up above the tank?
