Yep you can. I would stay away from goldfish food though. I would feed it betta pellets with an occasional treat of some freeze dried blood worms.

I feed my betta a variety of things. A varied diet is best for most fish. I feed her betta pellets but I use the back of a spoon and "pop" them into 3-4 small bites since she has a hard time eating the whole pellet at once. If you feed pellets make sure they are floating pellets ( all betta specific pellets are). I also feed tropical flakes once in awhile. Not all bettas will eat flakes though. I know alot of people feed freeze dried bloodworms as a treat a few times a week, I don’t cuz my betta refuses to eat them. I also feed her a plain, cooked pea once every 2-3 weeks. I just take a frozen, plain pea and cook it and then squeezed it out of the outer skin and mush it up and she loves it. Once a week I feed her frozen food too. She absolutly goes crazy for it and you have to make sure not to overfeed them cuz they will eat and eat.. I get mine at any pet store like petco or petsmart. The stuff I get comes in variety packs with bloodworms, tubifex worms, daphnia, cyclops, watercress, spiralina and much more. All of my fish love this stuff. In my opinion the frozen food has more nutrional value and is better for the fish. But you have to really watch how much you feed them since overfeeding can cause many different health issues and can shorten their lifespan. I would stay away from goldfish food since that is formulated for the needs of goldfish which are different from most tropical fish such as bettas. Read the labels on dried fish food and try to avoid any fish meal, shrimp meal, etc.. any "meal" is just a filler and isn’t good. Look for whole ingredients on the label. I feed Omega One brand foods and they list whole salmon, whole halibut and so on as the ingredients. Fillers in any pet food is just junk and is not good for the pet.
