I have a alligator snapping turtle probably about 3 inches in length. I knew nothing about the ph levels and i have not been checking them. What should the level be?

Also, I am noticing some spots around his mouth that almost look like blisters thought they are hard. Is that due to the ph levels being incorrect?

Hi :) Turtles are notorious picky eaters!! i hightly recommend getting a copy of 'feeding your reptile' by Liz Palika. They have a wide range of appetites and can be frightenly picky. Also check around with your habitat sometimes, especially at pet stores, people claim to know more than they do! there is also a horrible amount of misinformation even in books, so READ up!! again I recommend books by Liz Palika! Good Luck!!!!

What kind of a turtle do you have??? First identify and then you'll know what the natural rang of color is! Also natural color won't come off if you give them a litle bath, just GENTLY, wash them with a mild soap, and rinse, be careful not to tramutize them! Their little hearts are delicate!!!! As for treatment consult a vet!!!

Supplements!!! Available at the local pet store! Either powder to be sprinkled on the food, liquid to be squirted or 'gut loaded' meaning you feed the 'food' like the worm the vit, and then they it that. Also if he or she is very deficient they may need to see a vet!!!!

best thing to do in most situations with vitamin defficiency is to first isolate them in a small terrarium and put a heat lamp on them, it boosts their immune system so they recover faster
