Are their any algae cleaning fish for a brackish tank?

8 March 2010 90 views 4 Comments

So i have a 5.5 gallon brackish (part fresh water - part salt water) Algae keeps building up and I'm tired of continually cleaning it out. So are there any brackish fish or invertebrates that can eat the algae. I don't care about any products or sponges this is only about aquatic creatures.

Also the tank has fiddler crabs in it that are territorial.

if you get a bigger tank, there will be less waste build up, this waste is fertilizer to algae.

Nerite snails are probably your only option, unless you convert to freshwater, then options are limitless. Also some plants like java ferns can can manage the algae outbreaks

only snails….. heres the only ones i know of https://www.azgardens.com/p-222-snail-algae-eating-olive-nerite-snail.aspx you can buy them here but you have to spend 35 bucks for them to process the order…. they are fairly hard to find so online would be your best bet im sure there are other sites where u dont have to spend so much for them to process the order. they should be fine with the crabs
