Mmm, i just got a guinea pig from my mothers friend, though i was looking through it’s fur and it has little lice things..or tiny creatures.. but their not fleas their white.. idk what they are and they made bald spots behind his ears.. imma take him to the vet i think, but maybe if anyone knows an easy solution.. or what it may be please reply :D
hes only a baby ):
mine too. they have bald spots behind their ears.
yeah, i don’t know if that’s normal or not??
i got some lice spray that i use once a week.. i think it’s working.. but the bald spots havn’t gone away..hmm
my guinea pig had them he died tho :( old age i think you need to bath it a give it a good wash :)
Bald spots behind the ears is completely normal. It’s a genetic thing. Just check to make sure the skin looks healthy. As for the insects of some sort, get that checked out.
ah ^^ thanks
ATTENTION ALL GUINEA PIG OWNERS!
If you use wood chip bedding (aspen/pine) then this might help you in the long run.
my guinea pig (2 year old male) has had mites from the bedding or possibly from the pet store he is from (petland) so the vet bill was about $125 so i highly reccomend recycled paper bedding or newspaper (lining the bottom or in strips) mites cause itching/scratching leading to bleading and scabs/hair loss in certain patches of irritation.
Thanks!
It probably has mites (if you use wood chip bedding, its probably from that)
i took mine to the vet yesterday and he has mites… he has several scabs (somtimes scratching so much it takes a while for the fur to grow back) but yes definately take it to a vet because it just gets worse and scars or gets infected if you wait
I dont think its mites because they are like impossible to see, my guinea pig had mites and i looked through his fur and never saw any little bug type things
mmm well their gone now so it’s okay, :D
k what about like long nails would dat effect him
o n what bout white flakes in the hair will that effect him
Of course not (I mean it doesnt effect mine) the only one it will hurt a bti is you when they grab on to you
yo dude i use aspen n my guinea pigs has lots of loose hair..so since that the problem what type of bedding should i use…other than paper?? thanks ur comment helped me so much now ima stop using aspen
Everyone who is talking about the bedding problems, you should use fleece. it’s healthy, and more comfortable to the guinea pigs.
:)

Hello my guinea pig died 2 months ago. He was very healthy, we kept him under the right living conditions, but he still started showing a litle bump in is torso. When it was about a grape size, the vet refused to operate my guinea pig. After a year my guinea pig health declined and the bump was now extended from his front paw to the end of his belly. It was a hard mass, with a very rapid growth. He had two sons, so i’m wondering, if this happens to one of them what should I do? Tanks
