Keep an eye on her. Female bettas may release their eggs at any time. You just have to wait for more. Look between her pectoral fins for a white spot that looks like a grain of salt. If it’s there, she has eggs. The white thing IS an egg.

^^I am not a sir, but I did post videos of this batch all along the way. They are a year old now and some of them appear in my latest video, fishlin film VII. THe male in this video was a royal blue butterfly hm. However, my male I will be spawning hopefully this weekend is black and green (hm as well.) He’s in my Fishlin film VII as well. Thank you for watching! :)

Very nice vid! Love the cuts and music. Top quality. I might breed Bettas soon. Any tips or tricks?

I shot this over a year ago and the fry have grown up. I am putting up new videos this year with my methods and observations this year, since the most questions have been on them. I’ll be posting a video in a few hours (when I finish editing it) on Setting up, if you want tips. :)

u can buy HM bettas at PetCo.
they sell them. along with Delta tail, CT, long fins, and king bettas.
LOL remember PetCo not Petsmart, petsmart only have CT’s and long fins.

why does my male attack the female?

  • TheGreatPickles said:

‘Cause he’s a jerk. :) More specifically, because betta males are very territorial and aggressive toward their own kind and fish like them. They are NEVER gentle with the ladies. Shredding is part of breeding; no going around it.

is it possible for the male and female to mate without a bubble nest?

  • TheGreatPickles said:

Yes, but this is VERY rare (in this case the male would clump the eggs together, sticking them to one another at the surface.) Bubble nest building is a healthy and natural part of the process. I usually give my male three days to build an adequate one. Give him plenty of floating vegetation and dim lightning.

  • pokemon2727 said:

my made is starting a bubble nest its pretty big
and why is my female just like at the bottom its like its dead and she is not active why??

I really love the juxtaposition of dramatic betta love and dramatic music. So appropriate!
