most tanks have instructions in them that help a little.
first it needs to cycle for a couple weeks. try platys, zebra dianos, gold barbs, just make sure you research the fish you want to buy. most tropical fishes need 10gal tanks depending on how many you get. and try to get peaceful fishes that wont prey on the tankmates or attack them.

To answer your question would take up the entire page.

I would get a fish tank NO SMALLER THAN 20 gallons. Honestly, the size of the tank depends on what type of fish you want first. I would figure that out first. Go to local fish stores and ask questions.

There are plenty of sites with good information. Please do research and have your tank set up first before brining any fish home.

Pet stores carry starter aquarium kits that have everything you need to set up a tank. Start with Danio’s & Neon’s & test water, then add tropical community fish.
