Betta fish care and tips Version 2

A new and improved version of my previous betta fish care and tips video. Also something i didn't mention is water changing, change about 10-25 percent of the water weekly, look at your fish on a daily basis to make sure they are swimming around ok, and are normal and healthy. Some good tank mates for either males or females would be: Corydoras catfish, dwarf corys being the best as they only get to 1.5-2 inches and are great for smaller tanks, the other varieties are good if you have a ...

LOL ok well, if you can soon i would reccomend large tank and something without plastic plants, the food you get in that kit is fine just be sure to substitute with frozen/freeze dried bloodworms and brine shrimp
ok i will look for any new vids of yours to see the fish

What is the brand of the mini heater at 3:14? Do they have that in the US?

  • Ingiequeen said:

Its a HYDOR mini heater, and it would be more common in the us than in OZ here so im sure you could find it, if not then u can very easily order it online, just type in “HYDOR MINI HEATER” in google ^^

Hey I’m planning on getting a male betta and maybe 1 or 2 rasboras (since Poseidon is in a better place now, if you know what I mean). Also, I want to plant some real plants in my tank. Can you tell me If that would be to crammed in my 3 gallon tank? Oh and I accidentley gave you a 1-star because I thought that I was pausing it, but I missed.

Ok cool, well a 3 gallon, ok say you have 1 male betta and 3 rasboras (the more of them the better, but since it is a small tank) make sure you have good brands of heating, lighting and a filter, if you can get a brand of heater called a JAGER, hey are VERY good, and for the filter i would reccomend a tetra in tank whisper 3i filter, and for the lighting, you can find a cheap dek lampat a home wares store for a good price, make sure it has a FLURO globe though.

As far as plants goes, for a low mainenience i would reccomend anubias (usually attached to rocks or driftwood) lava moss, java fern, water sprite, and possibly lace fern. I have a planted 10 gallon tank, it is a endler guppy tank, aswell as a few cherry shrimp and a panda coydoras in there, and the plants just go CRAZY!!! the only light i use for it is a 12w desk lamp i got for like $30 australian dollars, and i give it a bit of flourish every know and then. Try to use fine gravel not coarse.

hello. i started to breed my betta 3 days ago and this is the first time that i ever breed fish besides guppies (boring). i found your video to be very informative and appreciate you making it. you seem to have some breeding experience so could you do me a favor and watch my betta videos and tell me if i’m doing anything wrong? thanx, i would really appreciate it.

    were did u buy them?

  • Ingiequeen said:

Many places, pet stores, breeders, importers, private dealers, places like that.
Best place is a breeder though, pet stores dont keep them very well and usually only have veiltail bettas, which i find quite boring.

    good video!

Although a tank takes alot longer than a week to cycle as a week just isn’t long enough for beneficial bacteria to build up in the filter aponge to convert the ammonia and nitrItes.

Best advise i’ve seen on you tube yet though and you are educating people about correctly housing bettas which is a very GOOD thing!!!!

Some people are so fucking naive about fish they just shouldn’t be allowed to keep them.

  • Ingiequeen said:

THANKS! But yes i was kinda still a noob when i made even tis video, i know 1 week is definetley not eough time for a tank to completley cycle, it takes about 4-6 weeks. I should change it on this video. But anyway thanks.

o 1:42 r u sure thats bad its medium wait r u talking about how theres no filter or heater? im trying to get a cheap heater i dont have the money to get an exspensive heater i have the same tank and filters in that its not good to have a filter in it the tank isnt good enough to have a filter bettas dont like to be swayed by water im just gonna get a real plant for my betta maybe even 2

  • Ingiequeen said:

That tank is far too small, and there is no filter of heater, bettas do well with gentle filtration, such as a sponge filter. And i didnt quite understand the rest of the sentence but never mind.

how do i remove the chlorine from the water?

  • Ingiequeen said:

With a water conditioner, you can buy it from a pet shop, make sure you get one that gets rid of chlorine AND chloramine. I reccomend tetra’s aquasafe, and sera’s aquatan.

Prime is a great product! Get it, people! GET IT!

Folks, please don’t “rescue” bettas from stores. It only encourages them to buy more and to continue the poor care. Instead, consider adopting someone else’s unwanted betta, or adopting a cull (a fish that the breeder can’t sell because it isn’t as pretty or has a deformity – if the breeder can’t find it a home, he or she will kill it). For cull adoptions, look on betta forums and websites.
