ATTENTION: i have made a version 2 of this video, please watch it, it is a little more detailed and informative. This video is all about how to care and how to NOT care about Bettas/Siamese Fighting Fish. I would like to thank MetalgyrlACD for her inspiration and her info. Something that i didn't include is: Change the water with a cyphen every weeks about 1/4 of the water, feed them small abouts a few times a day that includes a good quality pellet food and frozen and freeze dried brine ...

another question: what plants are best for bettas? I tried looking online, but every website gave me different plants, and it’s really confusing.
Also, there are lots of bubbles on the walls of the tank, is that bad? (It’s not a bubble nest, btw)
OK well the bubbles are normal for the first 24 hours, it is because its a new tank with new water, the babbles are just gases escaping from the water. And plants, i would reccomend java moss, its really tough, fat growing and cheap, and hardy too and has a unique loo! Also, java fern is good and anubias(needs to be attached to something , like a rock or driftwood) cryptocorne wendtii, wysteria, water spryte, lace fern
Thank you! I think I’ll go with the java moss. My betta is doing really well today, he’s leisurely swimming around and occasionally poking at the gravel.
Can you use well water for there bowl?
I would not reccomend it
Honestly ive seen videos on youtube that have the fish tank hanging up and its so small!!! To me that is cruel to have such a small fish tank and plus its hanging up i think thats pretty messed up!
can you tell me how big my tank is look at 1 of my vids on topaz my betta thanks if you can it looks really roomy in person but the camera makes it look smaller
can i use marbles as a sub for gravel?
is there anything that can replace a heater you know to make the water warm enough i cant afford a heater just yet
Well I just got my first fish ever yesterday and it’s a betta. The lady at the pet store said they don’t need filters or heaters or any of that stuff because they are hearty fish. If I wanted all that stuff, I would have gotten a gold fish or something. The reason people like bettas and buy them, like me, is because they don’t need all that stuff. We bought a betta package and the tank is only 1/2 a gallon and the lady said it was fine. No one said it was too small.
oops i ment hardy fish
the one in 1:27 is realy good for a beta
Aslong as they are clean, it would not hurt, but they do not hold bacteria well, i would reccomend gravel over them,
Keep the tank in the warmest room of your house, a god tip also, a lot of fridges get warm on top, so you can place your tank on to of your fridge if it is warm.
LOL i hear this all the time, people at the pet store are not zooologists or professional fish keepers, only at very professional aquarium stores usually at least sometimes the people know anything about bettas, although i met someone who was at a major aquarium in melbourne, it is one of the most respected and she had bettas….only problem is that she had over 400 and kept them in brandy glasses……pathetic.
No….it is not.
The fact of the mater is bettas do 10 x better if given the proper aquarium. they live longer, healthier lives and are more colourful and active, and overall a better fish to enjoy and keep as a pet, in the wild the water is naturaly filtered and warm, so why should we not replicate that in captivity?
wat is a fringe?
LOL what the heck dont you know what a FRIDGE is??? Dont you know that big cold thing in your kitchen that keeps food cool and keeps it from going rotten????? XDXDXD oh and you misspelled fridge, you said FRINGE HA
no wait i read your reply to me wrong i thought it was fringe that you posted to me but you posted fridge i know wat fridge means
OH ha owell, all fixed up now.
OMG! As soon as I saw this video, I immediatly switched my betta’s 2.5 gallon tank with plastic plants, no heater or filter, and no dechlorinater to a 10 gallon with a sponge filter and heater, along with live plants, gravel, and hiding cave thingies, oh, and conditioner and dechlorinater too. Plus a little oxygen pellet thing, for extra air, even though bettas can get air from the top. BTW, can I add a female to my males tank? Please reply as soon as possible.
Ah well good on you! A female living with a male all the time is not very good, they should only be put together when they have been properly conditioned for 2 weeks, and only in a spawning tank ONLY to mate. If you want some sort of other fish in with your betta there are several that would do well in a 10 galon, such as otocinclus (cleans algae) corydoras, or endler guppies.
Is there anyway for your betta fish to change colors without hurting it?
I don’t understand the question, you cannot change a betta fishes colours.
