The tiny wonders called bettas

To please her tiny toddler, the author bought betta, a Siamese fighting fish and named him Gabriel. He was of lovely peacock blue shade and slight rose-colored belly and measured just about 3” long. The fish cost the author just a few dollars and now adorns a glass pitcher filled with water and shells, in her home, living on tiny food crumbs and being active most of the time. Though the author bought this tiny living thing to amuse her daughter, the cute little fish has now become her responsibility to tend and care.

Owning betas is not a very costly prospect as they are least fussy, costing only about $3 every year for their maintenance. Their habitat that is the glass bowl requires cleaning once a week if possible, as betas are not known to dirty their habitat too frequently, unlike other members of their species. They are a safe bet to own if you truly want to own a pet from Pisces family. They are quiet, least cranky and a soothing sight to watch. It would make you feel good to liberate a betta from a confined atmosphere and make him grow well at your place and amuse your children too at the same time. Male bettas being colorful are more in demand as compared to female ones which are not attractive due to their lack of color. The bettas’ mating is unsightly especially before the children, as the male bettas are known to be very aggressive with their females. When you choose a male betta fish, it is for you to decide whether you want to go for a vibrant one or select a sorrowful looking one and rear it to good health and color. You will know by their behavior when they are hungry and want food. They lose their color as they age and being well behaved and least fussy, they deserve our love and attention.
