Can I put tadpoles in a biorb with goldfish?

2 June 2009 155 views 3 Comments

I have a biorb fish tank and recently i have been given 3 tadpoles but i’m pretty unsure what the best way to look after them. I am thinking of putting them in my biorb aquarium along with my goldfish. I am concerned that the goldfish may eat them?

Also are the tadpoles going to be affected in any way by the filter?
I am hoping for a sensible response please and not a lecture on keeping goldfish, any help is appreciated!

I wouldnt put tadpoles in with pet Goldfish for the following reasons –

1- Tadpoles are wild animals that may possibly carry dangerous parasites or ailments that could cause illness or worse kill your fish.
2- Your Goldfish are at the end of the day Goldfish! They will most probably try their very best to eat the tadpoles!

I dont think they would harm each other, my main concern is that a Biorb isnt sufficient enough for either a tadpole or a goldfish. The filtration isnt good enough and the biorbs are not big enough.

One goldfish needs 30 gallons of water to maintain a healthy fish. 10 gallons extra is then needed for each additional goldfish, this is on top of the 30 gallons. Also because goldfish produce a lot of waste you need some heavy filtration.

if the tadpoles will fit in the goldfish mouth then they will try and eat them
