How do you make homemade fish food?
Making Your Own Fish Food

It is possible to make your own fish food that has the important amino acid DL-methionine that is important for fish nutrition.
To start get a whole salmon or canned or frozen is fine, thie salmon is a great source of carotene for colour, some FD brine or frozen shrimp, frozen peas, spirulina powder or duck weed, some fish oil - cod liver oil is ok and a hard boiled egg.
Put the mixture together and blend, with the paste that is left add some corn starch to dehydrate. Then place the paste on little foil strips, wax paper can be used if your dehydrator doesnt get too hot. Make sure there is ample space for air to circulate.
To make frozen food replace the corn starch with unfalvoured gelatin powder. If you are making food for Koi fish or gold fish add wheat germ powder.
It is fairly easy to make your own fish food but unless you are certain the food you make has the nutrition and is not harmful in any way due to kitchen chemical contamination then it is advised to stick to normal pet fish food.
When using your own fish food be sure only to use the mixture once a week to start with monitoring the fish carefully to see how they react. If everyhting looks ok then it will be safe to feed your fish the food as normal.
