Can the water from my coldwater fish tank be put into the new bigger tank I want to get?

Aquarium Water Change
I am going to buy a bigger aquarium than the coldwater fish tank i have at the moment.
Can the water from my current aquarium be transfered into my new tank mixing it with new water?
Or will i need to do a new nitrogen cycle for it?
Just to let you know as well that i have had the fish in my current tank for just over a year. Thanks
