The proper pronunciation is bet-tay, not bay-tah.

BTW, beta is not the second word in the Greek alphabet, it is the second letter...

I guess the reason for people saying &quot;betta fish&quot; is that they are in the vast group of people who don&#039;t really pay attention to what is told to them and don&#039;t really read what is put in front of them to read. I GIVE YOU................ the spoiled people of the United States, the privileged, the always right, the egotistical self centered masses, those who can do no wrong and can do whatever they want with no consequences.  Their parents either didn&#039;t care or gave up and decided it was easier to let them off than to discipline them.

Kylie, I had a betta cat once, she was betta dan all dem udder cats put togeddar.  Sorry to hear you are sick, hope you get betta.
