Aquarium Fish - The Simplest of Pets?

Pet fish require only minimum maintenance, and are free of all the fussing required for other pets. It gives a very attractive and colourful addition to your home or the workplace. It does not need the care of a vet, or the pet toys to keep them occupied. Keeping fish as pets can be the best choice for those who are not comfortable to spend more time on pet keeping; all it requires is to be fed twice a day, and weekly cleaning of the fish tanks. Watching the fish in your home aquarium can be a best stress reliever as it not only amuses the kids but also chills out the adults.

Requirements

The basic requirements if you want to have fish as their pets are: a source of non-chemical water, and a fish tank. Depending on the fish you plan to grow, the water can be saline or freshwater. The fish tank must be a sufficient one to accommodate the fish that are put into it. It is always never advisable to overcrowd the fish tanks as this hinders the growth of the fish, and also is vulnerable in cases of spread of diseases among them. It all depends upon the personal taste of the owner to further decorate their fish tanks with smooth rocks, pebbles, corals, fancy bubbles, and water toys. The choice of the fish to be put in the same fish tank must also be counted as certain species doesn’t get along with each other.

Other Points to Note

Make sure to keep the sick fish away from the healthy ones, watch out for the symptoms of the diseased fish. Avoid placing the fish tank in direct sunlight, and do not overfeed the fish as this may cause trouble too.
