pour the water into the top part but make sure that your thumb is on the other side to build pressure

you have to make sure the tube is vertical so the water can get down to the bottom

HAHAHAHAHA its so easy but the dude got a patent on a very very idea which I use with any halfway dcent filter canister and the only difference is he is using a powerhead/waterpump. Better to use a filter. :-)

I've got a similar device that connects to the sink. So it has a kind of "plunger" thing on the plug to suck the water out (fish crap, and all other crappy stuff) and put water back in. So the waist goes directly down the drain. My rocks don't circulate like this but mine are bigger. Only down side is I've left the water on to fill it up and forgot LOL no safety switch.

There is to much gravel in this syphon at the same time. Its fairly easy once your used to working with a regular syphon, you will soon be able to take out the right amount of water when the gravel is being cleaned.

And yes they can be used with sand, its also a must to clean it. The sand shouldnt be sucked up just hovered over.
